Community Health Champions
The Community Health Champions program brings together diverse community members from across Travis County to learn about, discuss, and collaborate on our work to improve the health of Central Texas.
The Health Equity Policy Council
The Central Health Equity Policy Council is a coalition of volunteers charged with identifying and advancing health and wellness equity policies for Travis County residents with low income.

Central Health is expanding as we implement our seven-year Healthcare Equity Plan, bridging gaps in care by delivering more services to more people in more places. Current projects
Del Valle Health and Wellness Center
The Del Valle Health & Wellness Center will bring expanded clinical services to Del Valle and surrounding communities to foster mental and physical well-being among Southeast Travis County residents.
Specialty care center at Hancock Center
Central Health will renovate the former Sears flagship store at the Hancock Center, at 41st Street and IH-35 (just south of the intersection of Highway 290 East)-to provide more primary and specialty care for patients with low income.
Future projects
Health and wellness center in northeast Austin
Working with the City of Austin and the community as part of the Colony Park Sustainable Community effort, Central Health will build a new health and wellness center that will expand current services and programs in northeast Austin
Medical complex at Cameron Center
Central Health will build a 50-bed permanent respite facility at the Cameron Center for people experiencing homelessness. The three-building complex at U.S. 183 and Cameron Road in northeast Austin will include a high-risk medical clinic as well as in and outpatient substance use treatment.
FY 2026 Budget
In year three of its Healthcare Equity Plan implementation, Central Health’s FY 2026 budget will continue bridging gaps in care by delivering more services to more people in more places.
Completed projects
Hornsby Bend Health & Wellness Center grand opening
As over 200 people celebrated with food, games, and song, Central Health’s Hornsby Bend Health and Wellness Center officially opened on Saturday, October 21. Along with tasty tacos, Zumba moves, and a Teddy Bear Clinic staffed by CommUnityCare’s Hornsby Bend providers, the event signaled new and better healthcare access for the more than 10,000 residents in and around the Eastern Travis County community near the Colorado River.
Rosewood-Zaragosa specialty clinic grand opening
In a historic move, Central Health has opened its first permanent specialty clinic at the iconic Rosewood-Zaragosa center in East Austin, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s 20-year journey to bridge healthcare gaps in Travis County.
Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Process

How to join a board meeting
Members of the public may join meetings using Zoom or a web browser by clicking the link in the meeting description.
Clicking the link provided in each meeting agenda will direct to a webpage with instructions to either download the Zoom app, which will then automatically connect to the meeting, or permit the user to choose to join the meeting via their web browser. This option will require the user to manually enter the unique Meeting ID # and password, both available in the meeting description above.
The teleconference system allows for two-way communication by members of the public, as required by established meeting rules.
